Attention to all registered adults in the ship:
You must complete Venturing Youth Protection Training by the time we recharter in December, or you will not be rechartered with the Ship. If you have taken it before, you must have taken it no earlier than January of 2010, or you will need to take it again in order to be current through 2011. (If you took it before January of 2009, they will not recharter you next month unless you take it again.)
This is a BSA requirement for ALL adult volunteers, is not under our control, and is enforced by the BSA. There are no exceptions.
The training is online and free. They estimate that it takes 40 minutes to take the course, including the free five minute registration if you have not done so. Taking the course a second time takes about 20 minutes, because you are familiar with the material.
There are several more training requirements for some positions in the Ship, but Venturing Youth Protection is required (and enforced) for ALL.
The BSA policy is described here.
The BSA\'s Online Learning Center is here.
Please print out the card when you finish the training, and bring it to a Ship or Committee meeting. If you use your BSA ID number and take the training online, you will be automatically credited with the training for recharter.
We recharter in November, so please don\'t delay!
